Pics trailering the old girl to AZ.

I ordered a few items from BikeBandit (mirrors, license plate lense). And she's in excellent condition but sat for 8 months, causing a carb leak. ...hope the float is stuck.

In July 2018, she completed the Triumph 12,000 mile service.

Thnx for the suggestion!

i'll first drain the tank, add quality gas w/ sea foam and marvel mystery oil, run her for 2 minutes (tapping on the carb to free the float), let the solvents do their thing overnight and fire her up in the morning.

AZ,

She looks great. I rode red/black 1998 for 17-18 years before the 2010 "big bird". It feels a lot light I will tell you.

good luck

Dan

Thnx Dan!

I decided to make her show quality and spread the Thunderbird word! ...ordered oem parts to replace weathered or aftermarket stuff, touch up paint and the dreaded Triumph decals

And searched for oem handlebar grips, the Triumph RH throttle grip appeared discontinued and unavailable. But after some digging and help, I bought two in the U.S. ($24).

Oooo, pretty!
But... how are ya gonna ride two bikes at once? Guess you could go a mile or so, walk back and get bike #2, ride a mile or so ahead of bike #1 then walk back... no? Gonna be slow going, but plenty of exercise.

At least you won't be painting this one all black. ;-)

...time to locate a right hand throttle grip (discontinued unavailable) but found 2. All's good for an original Thunderbird triple.

I tore into the bike to repair/replace a few items and discovered things along the way. For starters removed the tank and drained old gas.

And found a few issues like pvc tubing missing at the rear tank (possible gas leak) and the breather pipe fell off the airbox, no clip to secure it.

Also I need to repair the auxiliary chamber top to secure the left side panel. There're two plastic pins and one snapped off. So thinking drill and cement a similar plastic dowel rather than buy a new part.

I can say at this time, working on this Thunderbird is a "piece of cake".

and last one to service the bike was a dealer in New Mexico but not all dealers are bad.

very tidy bike.
just make sure to keep a very good condition battery up to it, as these motors are known to destroy the sprag clutch when starting them with a low battery or using too much throttle when starting.
I have a 95 sprint(trident) love the torky motor they are a great motor.
